5 Features Your Website's About Page Should Have

What your About Page Should Say About You:

Our top 5 Feature's Every About Page Should Include

An About page is a crucial aspect of building a website. Even for the most basic website it is where visitors go to learn more about your brand, your story, and what sets you apart. An effective About page can help you build trust with your audience and establish domain authority as well as credibility.

Today we'll explore five essential features that your website's About page should have.

1.) Clear & Concise Information About YOU

Your visitors should be able to understand the YOU behind your brand's message and story in a few sentences. Avoid fluff and jargon and focus on communicating your story, your brand's values and goals in a clear and concise manner. Even if you're promoting a Brand - YOUR story is apart of why the Brand exists. Don't be afraid to add that human element, but stay on topic.

This will help your visitors understand the purpose of your website and why they should trust your brand.

2.) A Personal Touch

Adding a personal touch to your About page is another important feature. Like we mentioned above, adding that human element can set you apart from your competitors.
What does this look like? This can include sharing your brand's history, team members, or personal anecdotes. Behind the scene details and anything else that builds a personal trust between you and your ideal customer base.

This humanizes your brand and makes it more relatable. Visitors are more likely to trust and engage with a brand when they feel a personal connection.

3.) Compelling Visuals

Another feature that your About page should have is visuals. We all know it's important to look professional. I can't tell you how many small business websites I've helped that had homemade or just cell phone photos. Those are great on your social media (with a little editing), but not on a professional website.

Incorporating images or videos can make your About page more engaging and memorable. Do a 'Brand Photoshoot' and have the photographer capture the essence of what you do in a professional and relatable way.

We recommend hiring an expert and have personally used Evergreen Image Works for our own Brand Photography. Consider using photos of your team members or behind-the-scenes shots to showcase your brand's personality.

Every About page should have a balance of text and visuals. Remember the goal is to build trust with you and your Brand.

4.) A Call-to-Action

A call-to-action or (CTA) is a crucial feature that your About page should have. After learning about your brand and story, visitors should be directed to take action. This can include something like subscribing to your newsletter, following your social media accounts or making a purchase.

Make sure your CTA is clear and prominent, so visitors know what action to take next. It doesn't hurt to have the Same CTA throughout the page, but we don't recommend having more than one.

5.) Contact Info

While we saved this for last it's certainly not the least important of all of these recommendations.. I have people complaining to us all the time about other websites where they can't find any contact details other than a generic email or phone number. Make sure to include as much contact information as you can without giving away personal details.

This again builds trust and makes it simple for people to find you when you come to their mind again while giving a recommendation for someone. Including contact information not only on the About Page, but in your website's footer and contact page as well.

Your website's about page is an essential component of your Brand's online presence.
By incorporating these five features - you can create an effective 'About Page' that builds trust and credibility with your audience both as a Business and a Brand.
